Hi Rory

You can have your job change the STSMSG attribute for the current job to
*NONE to prevent status messages being displayed. For example:

PGM

DCL VAR(&STSMSG) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(7)

/* Retrieve the current STSMSG attribute... */
RTVJOBA STSMSG(&STSMSG)

/* Turn off status messages... */
CHGJOB STSMSG(*NONE)

/* Copy your files... */
CPYF ...
CPYF ...
CPYF ...

/* Turn on status messages (i.e. reset to original state)... */
CHGJOB STSMSG(&STSMSG)

ENDPGM

All the best

Jonathan

Subject: Avoiding status messages

All,

I have a job which is run interactively which includes lots of file
copying to and from QTEMP. I would like to supress the (potentially
hundreds of) system-generated 'Copying member...' status messages from
appearing, but I would like to be able to send periodic status messages
of my own - 'Copying required files...' etc. Is this possible? I thought
of toggling the USROPT user profile parameter between *STSMSG and
*NOSTSMSG, but I don't know if it would work, and I'd like to know if
there is an alternative.

Thanks,

Rory
