As you probably know, each controller actually has two different names. One is the controller description that you see when you do a WRKCTLD ctl02, and the other is the resource name. To change the description is just a matter of varying the controller off and renaming it to whatever. Then with autoconfig on you should get the device names your looking for. If you want to change the resource name (which is not needed, but advisable for sanity sake) go into SST and 'Hardware service manager', Locate resource name , and put in option 2 to change the name. Then make sure the controller is looking at that resource. Hopefully, if I understood your question, this answers it. On both iSeries's, the QDEVNAMING SYSVAL is set to *DEVADR. So a display on Workstation Controller 02, Port 03 with switch 05 gets assigned the name DSP020305. And, on the 620, the three work station controllers are CTL02, CTL03 and CTL04. So the names of all our twinax displays are DSP02xxxx, DSP03xxxx or DSP04xxxx. On the 520, the work station controllers are called CTL05, CTL06 and CTL07 (from WRKHDWRSC *LWS). Even though the Work Station Controller Description I have assigned to each controller are CTL02, CTL03 and CTL04 (from WRKCTLD *ALL) the names assigned to the twinax displays I plug into them begin DSP05, DSP06 or DSP07. How do I change the names of the workstation controllers from say CTL05 to CTL02, so that the same names are used on the 520 as on the 620?
