Sounds good... when i've used SWA in the past, we definitely always stopped
updating during the checkpoint phase (was built into our app vendor's
nightly jobstream).  I would have guessed/assumed that checkpointing would
have not completed normally if the data was changing.  That's good to know
for future reference!  (Something I would have dug into and researched if

The checkpoint processing would complete, however your backup could be bad!
If your backup was bad because of updating during the checkpoint, save
would still tell you that you have a good save!

Don/Walden -

Are you on V5R3 and have you two investigated the fast
checkpointing/save-while-active for your shops?  We're checkpointing 203
libraries (a full *ALLUSR) with many thousands of objects in under 20
minutes and are getting a good save every night.  No downtime
whatsoever.

(And Joe and I are going back and forth about 35GB disk while you guys
apparently have at least twice the amount of space needed for data
alone...)
