Hi Pete -
Thanks for the feedback. I've d/l'ed the code and trying to get it going as an applet. Getting a 'class not found', so I'm not there yet.

Michael,
There really isn't any iSeries side stuff to worry about. It depends where you plan to serve the applet from. It depends whether or not you plan to use SSL. My particular bias is that as an application or applet, Java code that runs on the client can be a hassle to administer. We run our internal network through MS ISA server to the Internet and some Java applets don't play well in a proxied environment. Plus, anybody who has used the IBM info center where sometimes the applet that builds the left hand menu works and sometimes it doesn't gets a sense of how "tricky" the client environment can be. Some applets require a specific JVM, some can run just about under all of them. It is that kind of stuff that makes it "interesting" to run applets. And that is just within Windows. Add Macs and Linux to the mix and things are very interesting indeed
I can't speak for Mochasoft, but the tn5250j forum is great for answers and helps to get up and running. It is also a great list when it comes to dealing with quirky JVM installations.

I am probably biased because I monitor the project and have done some coding on it, as well as we have integrated it into our Open source menuing and program access tool that runs in a browser (full disclosure!) but it is very mature, stable, and full featured. It can also be configured to run as an applet, like the Mochasoft product. Did I mention it is free?
It also has an excellent Java interface so that it can be easily integrated into Java application, which is what we did. I also have an implementation of it that runs within a browser (not as an applet, it runs as a servlet and generates HTML, much like iSeries Access for the Web, except faster, lighter weight and Open Source). I hope to get it posted as a project on SourceForge soon (much to do, much to do....)
Give tn5250j a try....runs on Windows, Mac OS and Linux....

Haven't tried it yet, so any feedback from those who have used it would be appreciated.

Hi folks -
Looking for ideas/recommendations for a browser-based emulator. Have a requirement for remote access...I don't want to/can't load iSeries Access on the incoming devices. How about Host On Demand? Who uses it? Is it good stuff? What do you need on the iSeries? What's the LICPGM? How much does it cost?
What other tools are out there besides HOD?
I appreciate the help...
