Jerry, I would recommend using Tivoli Storage Manager to backup these NT files to your tape drive. It can also backup any other servers or clients in your network. TSM comes with the purchase of certain Enterprise packages of iSeries and i5. Now we need to do a restore (RST) of a directory that was deleted. How can we do this? Where are the files? Is NT just like the IFS? Where's the data? What's the cmd syntax (RST) to restore a folder? Or is this done from NT? Jerry Following is the listing from : DSPTAP DEV(TAP01) DATA(*SAVRST) OUTPUT(*PRINT) ENDOPT(*UNLOAD) This confirms that files are being copied. It looks like it is copying entire volumes as a single file each. To recover a single file or directory I would need to recover the entire drive to a neutral location, then get what I need. If I am missing something, or misinterpreting this report, please let me know. By the way, the AS400 does not allow *SAVRST to *OUTFILE. You have to use OUTPUT(*PRINT). Do you know if the NT side can see the tape drive? Can I install BackupExec or similar and backup to the same tape drive?
