Arguments as to why you would want to purchase a product because of the secondary benefits aside, here are your options, I) Find out if the new paging method accepts email. If so, and that is how you are contacting the cell phone, change it to, or add, the pager. A-Some paging vendors charge for each email page but not pages sent over TAP or whatever the alternative protocol is now. This was adding up to a significant chunk of change here. B-See previous concern about "What if email is down but you still want to page?" (disk threshold, etc). Decide if you can live with that restriction. II) Use a paging product like Byteware, ROBOT, LXI, etc A-Some cost B-Can do both email and the other protocol as a backup. If you get gouged for email pages can pay for itself. III) Write your own paging communication program. A-Expensive to do unless you really know your communications programming. B-Might be some shareware out there.
