If I am recalling this correctly, the SECURE(*YES) needs to be used on the
second override.  This option allows you to change a previously issued
override.  I've looked at the help for this command so many times, and it
still seems bass-ackward to me.

Yes, that should work unless the override at the previous call level was
done with SECURE(*YES).

The other option is to use OVERSCOPE(*JOB).  Which would allow you to delete
the override from a lower level.  BUT, it also means overrides done at a
lower level don't disappear when you come back from the call.  For example:

/* Pgm 1 */
OVRPRTF <...> DEV(PRT01) OPNSCOPE(*JOB)
CALL PGM2
/* At this point DEV on the printer file is PRT02!!! */



/* Pgm 2 */
OVRPRTF <...> DEV(PRT02) OPNSCOPE(*JOB)
