Ok, I will give it a try.  We use this to change the USERDATA name, so the 
printer operator will know what's printing.

Yes, that should work unless the override at the previous call level was done 
with SECURE(*YES).

The other option is to use OVERSCOPE(*JOB).  Which would allow you to delete 
the override from a lower level.  BUT, it also means overrides done at a lower 
level don't disappear when you come back from the call.  For example:

/* Pgm 1 */
OVRPRTF <...> DEV(PRT01) OPNSCOPE(*JOB)
CALL PGM2
/* At this point DEV on the printer file is PRT02!!! */



/* Pgm 2 */
OVRPRTF <...> DEV(PRT02) OPNSCOPE(*JOB)
