That is the plan. Know of a source for used 35GB 15K drive to put into a 5095? Actually I am trying to remove the old migration tower and put stuff into the 5095 PCI-X expansion tower that I had to add for the LVD LTO-2 tape changer. I also need the fastest Raid-5 controller I can put into the 5095 to drive all twelve drives. I wish IBM would make it easier to compare features such as the 2757,2763,2782,4778,5703,5715 raid controllers. Time to search Google. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Neil Palmer/DPS Sent: Tuesday, December 21, 2004 8:55 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: AS400 system configuration 820/2436 Of course eliminating the 5095 will chop a tidy sum off your monthly hardware maintenance. :-) ...Neil Chris Bipes <chris.bipes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 2004/12/21 11:39 To "'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion'" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject RE: AS400 system configuration 820/2436 The LVT did let me put an IOP in C01 so I can use C02. C07 is SOL. Kind of expensive to move one card. On the other hand, I can put these cards into the 5095 expansion tower with purchase of an IOP. I am still playing with the config. Thanks for the tip on the LVT, neat tool. -----Original Message----- Chris, Just off the top of my head you are out of luck, but the LVT you have downloaded should tell you if I'm all wet or not. The 4838 is pretty intense and you already have a 2749 on one IOP and the 2778 on the other. In addition IOPs will drive only 4 IOAs. So I think you're hosed since you don't have enough space to add another IOP.... - Larry -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
