>From the iSeries:
DSPSFWRSC to get a list of your program products.
Download SF97530.
Eliminate any program products that you do not have.
Use DSPPTF and compare that with above to find out what ptf's you do not
have.
SNDPTFORD these. The only drag is that I don't think that SNDPTFORD
supports the FTP option.
And, I don't know how accurate SF97530 is.

RE: Which group PTFs do we need?

Not if it were done either from the iSeries or used the PC to retrieve
from
the iSeries via the local network, which is what the iPTF may be doing.
I'm
not sure since I never heard back from anyone. I've done some of it for my
system. I even thought about putting it out as a $99 shareware, but I
don't
know anyone who wants to spend $99 for something they currently CAN do.

Doesn't pull down all ptf's that are available. Just ptf's that are on
the cume that are not on your system (unless you tell it to include ones
on your system so you can distribute to other machines). John's technique

would get all ptf's.

Re: Which group PTFs do we need?

I believe when using the IBM iPTF site to generate an order for a
CUMulative
PTF package, I think they are already doing something like this, because
it
requires me to enter the IP address of the system and a userID and
password
on that system, so that IBM can connect to that machine... I believe it
polls the system to find out what LPPs are installed and then generates a
CUMe PTF package that contains only PTFs for those LPPs. (but I could be
mistaken...)

I don't think this comes into play with the "Group PTFs" however ... :-o
