Whereas IBM always supports compiling down to current release - 2, and, V4R4 end of support was around the time of V5R1 GA, and, V4R5 end of support was between the time of V5R2 announce and it's GA date, and, V5R1 end of support is 9/30/2005, and, COMMON Orlando is September 18-22 in 2005, I suspect that the follow on to V5R3 will be announced at, or shortly before, COMMON Orlando, and the GA will be no later than some time in October 2005. See also: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/support/planning/suptschedule.html Other considerations: IBM has not had a fall announcement since V4R3. Only 3 of 19 announcements of os/400 releases have been fall announcements. All this speculation is solely based on the referenced website and not on any "inside" information. Keep on eye on "Future Releases" here http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/support/planning/nav.html for any future hardware and software compatibilities. They've already announced the servers that will not be able to upgrade past V5R3. (Our four boxes are cool.)
