Faulty Ethernet cable? We had similar issues that just disappeared when one
of the network techs brought out a new cable. I'd start there before
hitting the panic button....

Subject: Duplex problem on ethernet line

After IPL last night, the Ethernet line failed. The NIC (2838) and
switchport (Cisco 2950) were both hard coded 100/Full. I set the
iSeries to Auto/Auto which finally let me vary on the line. However,
the line description is showing 100/HALF while the switchport is still
100/FULL. The communication is working fine. There are no errors on
the switchport even though the duplex settings are different. IBM and
Cisco could not give me an explanation why this works. Any ideas?
