Mark,

You will definately need both Ethernet and KVM. You will be interacting with the HMC to configure the i5 system but once configured much of what you do can be done on a web interface to the HMC. The HMC communicates to the i5 over Ethernet to dedicated ports on the FSP.

THE most important part of implementing HMC is to get it up to date on code, set up, configured etc *BEFORE* you even apply power to your i5.

With the new HMC for controlling LPAR's, does it require a keyboard, video, mouse physical connection or does it do everything over Ethernet? Or both? Basically, how do you connect to and interact with it?

Thanks

Mark
