If the reports are in a directory/folder, they are in the IFS already. You can start NetServer on the iSeries, which will let any user (with authorization) see these reports in Windows Explorer.

There are a couple terms to clear up. On the iSeries, "folder" usually means something in the QDLS file system of IFS. This is the old document library object stuff that was used by OfficeVision, a product not available for some time. If the reports are going to a QDLS folder, there are other problems - users need to registered in the system directory, etc. File names are limited to DOS 8.3 standards. Etc. Not fun.

If you are using "folder" in the more general, Windows sense, then as long as it is not in the tree under /QDLS, things are easier. As stated above, starting NetServer will, for the most part, give users access to things. You set up file shares (using OpsNav), just as you do on a Win2K or WinXP box. And you can set security on each share, just as in Windows.

I think you need to talk to support at Gumbo.

Hello All, We have a program that sends spool reports to a users directory/folder, each month for end of month reports. What happens is that the program does not delete or clear the folder first, actually it creates a new folder each month, but is copying the previous months reports. The programmer who wrote this is a 'consultant' who is hard to reach, so rather than try and fix his, I would rather simply get these reports into the IFS and then send it to the users location. Only problem is that I have no prior usage of the IFS in that way. I did read a very interesting Ebook on this subject of the IFS that was mentioned here last week. But the example there was more putting a file onto the IFS, I would like to take the reports that are generated from SpoolMail (the Gumbo product), and direct them accordingly. Perhaps this is fairly easy and someone can list the steps for me to fill in the blanks.

Greatly appreciate any help on this, Sorry if a bit vague.
