Here's a link to a Tip from Ted Holt that does not DIRECTLY answer your question, but does provide a code sample you can use to resolve your issue. For your case, simply change the contents of the FTPIN file in this tip to whatever FTP commands you want to execute, including that variable file name. http://www.midrangeserver.com/mgo/mgo022803-story01.html -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Smith, Mike Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 9:33 AM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Automating a FTP I have a script file that handles ftp'ing a file from our Iseries to a 3rd party. There is now a request to change the file name when it it sent. Currently the file is something like this RGCCS00H and we perform a 'Put RGCCS00H RGCCS00H.txt. Now they would like the file with the current date in the name something like RGH062104.txt. I'm not sure if or how I can automate this in my script. Any ideas?
