maybe you are not the target audience? i think the msg of this ad is "server consolidation" "used to have many servers" "now have 1 server" "introducing" ibm eserver/i5 "designed for consolidation" Same but more detail in the Wall Street journal full page ad. IBM has been running similar style ads since late 90's and i've heard they are very effective at the "target audience", which is probably more the managers & decision makers. Notice that Microsoft has lately taken same approach. It's all about getting the "save you money" message out. If you want a "business case" msg, Ian Jarman's web video http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/announce/# in the right side column under Presentations and Videos IBM is also doing a half day roadshow in many cities in May/June, including some around the world. http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/bigevent/cities.html At the Common Town Hall meeting there were several videos that were very effective in presenting "business-case" ideas, and a number of us asked IBM to post these in the iNation Video area. jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hall, Philip" <phall@xxxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 07, 2004 11:43 AM Subject: RE: And with the i5 - we have a TV Commercial ! > > > > -----Original Message----- > > Subject: RE: And with the i5 - we have a TV Commercial ! > > > > Not impressed???? Apart from the 4 seconds at the end, where the words eServer i5 are spoken and displayed on the screen, how exactly is it ('it' being why *you* as someone that doesn't have an i5, or even know what an i5 is should buy one) advertised ? > > --phil >
