Re: 3488/3489 attach to LCD monitors

first - pay Attention to the small "gender changer" plug
at the rearside VGA-port of the logic unit, there is some
"logic" in it (I think hard coded through some shotcuts) to tell
the lgoic unit that the monitor is capable of doing 132 columns.

second - a 15" TFT is having 1024x768 pixels as native resolution,
a 17" TFT normally has 1280x1024. Since the logic unit was built
with SVGA monitors with 800 x 600 (max.) in mind, you gain
nothing when using bigger screens, only the pixels grow bigger in
size and the display doesn't look sharp anymore.
For all resolutions smaller than the native one an LCD monitor
has to do interpolation for the pixels that don't fit to the "physical"
pixels of the matrix, this results in a slight reduction of sharpness
and contrast.

I "know" this is an odd question, but has ANYBODY
tried to attach one of the new thin LCD monitors up
to a 3488 or 3489 ????

I have customer that would like to do that....

The sales manual offers no clue...(I didn't expect one)
