Thanks for your comments... same question to you..

What models/brands have you used that worked ???

I have always set the 132 columns directly on the
unit.. (test workstation ...F20 until M5 appears)

Never had to use a "gender changer".. but I see it
mentioned in the sales info...

My info also states max resolution of 1188/508
which is a "odd" resolution...

Hello Pat,

I did it, this should be no problem at all, but two tips :

first - pay Attention to the small "gender changer" plug
at the rearside VGA-port of the logic unit, there is some
"logic" in it (I think hard coded through some shotcuts) to tell
the lgoic unit that the monitor is capable of doing 132 columns.

second - a 15" TFT is having 1024x768 pixels as native resolution,
a 17" TFT normally has 1280x1024. Since the logic unit was built
with SVGA monitors with 800 x 600 (max.) in mind, you gain
nothing when using bigger screens, only the pixels grow bigger in
size and the display doesn't look sharp anymore.
For all resolutions smaller than the native one an LCD monitor
has to do interpolation for the pixels that don't fit to the "physical"
pixels of the matrix, this results in a slight reduction of sharpness
and contrast.

HTH, Philipp
