Ted,

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do, but if CONTRA is a physical
file with fields that need to be populated by your pipe delim file, you're
using the wrong command.

try this:

CPYFRMIMPF FROMSTMF('/qopt/030502_092250/CONTRA~1.TXT')
TOFILE(TBARRY/CONTRA) MBROPT(*REPLACE) RCDDLM(*CRLF)
FLDDLM('|') RPLNULLVAL(*FLDDFT)

this will use your pipes to delimit the fields into your externally defined
pf.

hth,

Rick

Now I'm getting:

Object is not a file or is a file with attributes not supported by this
  command.

I just created the file CONTRA based on the vendors record layout.

The TOMBR name should be something like:

   TOMBR('/qsys.lib/tbarry.lib/contra.file/contra.mbr')

When working with the QSYS.LIB filesystem, the objects are always
"objectname.objecttype" you can't have "CONTRA" because it doesn't contain
the object type.
