OK ... I get it now ... You don't own the target box ... Yes, it looks like PPP is your only choice if you want to use your internal modem to dial out ... We have had to resort to this scenario ... At a client site where we dial PPP into their ECS modem, the client has to manually switch the ECS modem to Async in order to accept our call ... This is the only disadvantage I can think of .... Almost all of our client systems are accessible from the Internet now, but we have a few holdouts ... As a result, I have a couple of surplus SDLC capable modems in stock (UDS/Motorola V.3225) that will let you dial to the ECS and accomplish an SNA connection ... Saves changing the modem config at the client end ... Let me know if you are interested ... John G.
