Depends on you tape interface card and the tape drive and the
OS level and PTF's (but yes, under ugly conditions, this is very
possible)  That is why we have upgraded to faster interface
card and tape drive (even just one file restore went from one hour
to 5 minutes - Same with back ups, we where at 12-14 hours, now it 
only takes about 2-3 hours to back up - and we only purchased a 
medium of the road tape drive, the really fast ones can run circles
around those numbers.

A customers M170 lost a disk and I restored the system from the full backup
(option 21).  This took 18 hours to complete after IBM replaced the drive.
Is this a normal amount of time (be nice please).  There was no lost time
between commands but sometimes it took the tape 75 minutes to process one
command.
