Dave, You can always run OV on a V4R5 system, that has DDM versions of your database files from your current V5R2 version. As long as you don't add newly supported field types, this would work forever. If you add newly supported field types, create LF's (sharing access paths) without those fields, and use those for DDM. Management may become difficult. I'm not defending IBM for withdrawing support, be the product sucked, and M$ is the best example of monopoly in the world, with M$ Office becoming a world standard. (You can be sure that IBM didn't buy Lotus for Freelance Graphics.) IBM claimed that it was too expensive to support. I still use Text Management/38 on occasion! Frankly, I think IBM is short sighted in missing out all the new sales to these "too many customers on V4R5". Their panacea of installing domino and running mochsoft word is not acceptable to most of us who prefer green screen applications. I am not very enthused on Evergreen/400 green screen equivalent either. OV to Word converter such as http://www.aia-itp.com/link.php?href=/migration/migration.html also dont help me. Why cant IBM fix OV/400? I am sure it is expensive but they should look at all the pent up sales of V5 sales from exisitng V4 customers. Just my 2 cents. -- Thank You Regards.
