This link doesn't work well for me, but then again the Notes client that I use for e-mail @#$%s up links frequently. I thought that when IBM announced the last round of 8xx, the also announced the extension of support of V5R1 and V5R2. With the issue of how long does IBM support releases, IBM is an absolute pendulum. They go back and forth constantly. At the end of CISC into RISC, they were supporting many to many releases, so they cut back way-to-way much. Then IBM cut funding development, so future releases got put out further an further, so this caused the announcement of the extension of V5R1 and V5R2 support. IBM does seem firmly committed to n-2 support (from time to time). Right now, there are too many customers on V4R5, because they need OV/400. (IBM's version of the 1988 edition of starting to take heroin.) I have expounded on this list on how to take a new box to V5R2, while keeping an older system V4R5, and would be happy to do so again. If you confirm that you have no hardware incompatabilities, and no improperly written triggers, and that you are not running OV/400, and you are on V4R5, get off of it and onto V5R2 (skip V5R1). Generally speaking, it's probably the most stable release of OS/400 ever. It is certainly comparable with the better RISC releases of version 4, and I feel better. We clearly have found less problems here than on any prior release.
