Walden, If a company was considering adding Linux workstations for call center applications then any use of Microsoft-specific products, like ASP, would be a real error then? --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Date: Monday, April 14, 2003 10:25:50 To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: Active Server Pages In fairness I've not seen this particular product, but I've looked at others. They do handle "pure" ASP rather well, but the power of ASP is the ability to talk to COM objects -- be that ADO, PDF-handlers, custom COM objects, XML parsers, etc. I've not seen a COM environment in these products. There is a weak COM to Java bridge, but then you get to the issue of available COM components vs. Java components. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
