I hope Intentia [ www.intentia.com ] don't get too upset by your statement as
they do (had have done for a while provide a 'enterprise business system' in
Java [ http://www.intentia.com/w2000.nsf/index ] - and guess what...they, IIRC,
'converted' it from their RPG version of Movex too !

Someone wote on a prior thread on this subject, what a nightmare
debugging the Java
might be.
In one sense, if you're cracker jack with Java, then it might not be
too bad.
I tend to think, as David mentioned, that anything can technically be
converted to
another language.
Question is, in an example, where I convert the Enterprise system to
assembler,
who the devil out there can de-bug and maintain it?
My latest statistics, (no I don't have a copy handy), say that there
are still more
RPG coders out there than Java coders. This too might change.
Bottom line here is, how competent the individual is with the language,
and looking
just a bit down the road, how difficult will it be to maintain.
Just pretend for a minute, that it's your business.
