Shannon, When I try to telnet with a user profile from V5R1 to V5R2, I also am presented with a Signon screen, but... My V5R2 system uses 128 byte passwords, and my V5R1 system does not. When I finally do Signon to the V5R2 system (manually), I'm informed that there has been one invalid Signon attempt for my user, and indeed there is a PW journal entry in the QAUDJRN. Just to be sure, I've verified that I am not suffering from a upper/lower case problem. I don't currently have a V5R2 system that is set to only 10 character passwords, so I won't be able to verify just now whether the password length is the differentiator. jte -- John Earl | Chief Technology Officer The PowerTech Group 19426 68th Ave. S Seattle, WA 98032 (253) 872-7788 ext. 302 john.earl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.powertech.com -- > -----Original Message----- > From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l- > bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shannon O'Donnell > Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2003 11:17 AM > To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion > Subject: V5R2 - QRMTSIGN Problem > > Hi, > > When you set the QRMTSIGN (Remote Sign-on Control) System Value to > *SAMEPRF, you can telnet from one AS/400 to another, and, as long as the > AS/400 User Profile you enter into the RMTUSER parameter of the Telnet > command exists on the target system, you can auto-signon to the remote > system. > > TELNET RMTSYS(NEWSYS) RMTUSER(SHANNON) > > At least at V5R1 you can.
