ATS has some pretty good courses. http://www.ibmuser.com/ Since you've had exposure to development tools I might recommend the following sequence: ARP1-RPG/400 Programming ARG3-RPG/400 Interactive Programming ARG4-RPG/400 Subfile Programming ARG5-Advanced RPG Programming ARP3-RPG IV Programming (does NOT cover ILE topics like subprocedures, service programs, etc.) ADB3-SQL/400 RSQL-Power RPG with SQL However, for a one man shop, this is pricey. We have all of the above (except the last) and a few more here. I think they have a discount if you purchase multiples. You might be better off taking off to COMMON and taking some of the "tracks". The IBM tech conference is coming up in Las Vegas in June and that would be effective. Have QSYSOPR be handled by a break message program which hands the message text and key to the data queue in batch. Have the interactive application wait on the dtaq and display the messages in a subfile as they arrive>> Thats an excellent idea, but I have one problem. I am programming challenged. I promised myself years ago if I could write error free code the first time writing an application, I would stop programming. I did that and I havent programmed in COBOL or RPG in many years. But CL I can do. Now how do I send the received message to a dataq, I have no idea because I have never done that, much less create any subfiles and display whats in them. Any help or pointing me in the right direction would greatly be appreciated.
