Yeah, I should have clarified the "Java & RPG working in tandem" part. No doubt plain-jane Java coders are a dime a dozen (well, maybe a dollar a dozen), but the Java coders who are also AS/400 professionals are the ones who get to name their salary, from what I hear. And, I agree with your assessment on "many RPG-only companies have no specs". However, I presume that the RPG labor pool supply grows when companies with specs go offshore for coding. Which is one reason why I think RPG-only coders are a dime a dozen right now.
