Lucky for me, the software I use has DDE built in. I can link to Excel, read
the data from the green screen or a DB2 file, and format it into Excel any
way I like - cells, columns, text, formulas.. everything. Then, I can tell
Excel to save it, and can attach to an email as I need.

It is not a batch process, but one driven by our GUI tool - however, the
users love that capability. I am currently working on replacing PC file
transfer with a generic transfer-into-Excel tool - I have almost finished
the one that generates HTML tables from DB2 files.

This led me to thinking, and I realized I can use VB very easily to DDE into
Excel in that same manner. And, VB can (slowly with ODBC) get to DB2 files.
If you want complete control of the Excel spreadsheet, this is a possible
solution.
