If you are talking about modifying the source code out side of Synon, do
not do it.  Look at using user source, it allows you to put your own source
statements in a program. This can be a problem if you switch which language
you generate. Look at scan and replace also, I forget what the Synon 1
command is YSCAN* might find it. You can put this in user source and in the
first user point so it is run as a precompile command. If you really have
to change the source out side of Synon copy the code into a user program
and change it there. If you change it in a synon generated function someone
some day will generate this function and if you are lucky you will find it
while there is still a backup copy of the source someplace.  I only know of
one book that was written on Synon and it has been out of print for awhile,
but you might be able to get it used some place,  "Synon Developer's Guide
for the As/400 (J. Ranade Ibm) by John Porter"
