IMHO IBM ought to give away the whole ADT toolset (PDM,SEU,DFU..etc) AND Query, though I don't suppose they ever will; IBM seem dead-set to get the AS/400 away from the staid image of 5250 and into GUI; yes, GUI is fashionable, and I have yet to meet anyone who actually prefers a 5250 screen, but I don't want to pay extra for the 'privilege' of being able to write a few CL programs to help automate operations, customise my signon screen or run adhoc queries over my data. Bundling ADT into WDS was a shrewd move by IBM, if anything will put a nail in its coffin, that will. I don't suppose I'll be heeded by IBM but ... how about providing a PTF to enable earlier versions of ADT to run *COMPATIBLE with v5 - so, there will be no enhancements, but IBM, PLEASE do not ditch ADT the way you have dumped OV/400.
