Did you try accessing it by domain name instead of IP address? Most of the time, the SSL certificate has to match the domain name... but since you're not using a domain name, that seems like a possibility. Also, OpenSSL is not "linux based". It's true that it's available for Linux, but it's also available on many other operating systems. One of them is Windows, I use it on Windows 98 *every* *day*. If you download the tarball, and read the file called "INSTALL.W32" it explains how to compile it under Windows.
