>> Each /36 runs a complete business system, and I was wondering whether it would be more feasible to convert the existing RPG code to RPG/400, and hook the branches into an Internet connection with a larger box in Toronto, or research a pc solution for each branch? You mean RPG IV right Ken? <grin> There is no way in a million years I would recommend anyone to switch to RPG/400. The PC option may work for you, but my experience has been that works well for applications that were developed on the S/36 work-alike platform and then run on a "real" 36. It doesn't usually work so well for an existing S/36 app that is ported to the work-alike platform. Given the amount of testing required in either case, and that with the work-alike approach you still finish up with code that is a minimum of 15 years out-of-date (in terms of programming language as a minimum) - I'd convert every time.
