Now that C/C++ is a part of WDS, we have more choices. CL in whatever form is unbeatable for commands (doh - command line), RPG handles files wonderfully, of course, and C does the APIs easily - all the docs assume it. APIs are tough in CL. a little better in RPG (at least there are includes for some of the stuff). Native IO is limited in CL, doable but fussy in C. What a wonderful world!
