If this is a correct assumption, the following information might be useful. IPDS functionality in these printers is provided by a small board that is installed inside the printer that adds the IPDS emulation to the printer's basic HP PCL/PostScript language support. The add-in board has its own IBM part number and has to be specified as part of the sales ordering process for it to be included when the printer is shipped.
