Easiest and best way, forget about the HP4050's built in network connection,
use an HP DirectConnect hub.  AS/400 can print to them much, much better,
and you can then set it up as a printing device and not just a remote output
queue.

Then you have a lot better control and it seems to be consistent.  This is
from my experience working with HP4050 TNs.
