So, just in your guys' opinions, it isn't worth doing? What would the
additional costs involved be to set it up (assuming it is a usable system as
is)? In the hundreds or more?

Guys,

I found the following information from IBM:

IBM e(logo)server iSeries Frequently Asked Question

Organization: TSSTL
Product: IBM e(logo)server iSeries Release: All Releases
Document Number: FQ101771 Last Revised: 10/02/2001

Question: Can OS/400 V5r1 be ordered for an AS/400 (9401-150) model 150? If
so, what is the process?

Answer:
Yes, Instructions on how to order V5R1 for a Model 150 are documented in the
release notes for e-config (available on ViewBlue), under the Common
Software Products section. Since upgrades were not announced from the Model
150 software, the user must order V5R1 as initial order.

The instructions are as follows:
To order V5R1 software for a Model 150, use the iSeries "software only"
version of e-config and select Model 400 for the system model on the
Software Platform panel. This will allow selection of V5R1 software at the
appropriate (P05) processor group level. In the U.S., the Model 150 system
serial number will need to be entered to enable shipment of keys for the
V5R1 software.
