On rare occasions I have had a locally attached dumb terminal time out while I was entering a command but before I had hit Enter, which calls for exquisite bad timing. Arguably this arrangement is "a good thing" as it reduces the load on the CPU. > BTW, we are using JD Edwards' World software. The WAITRCD parameter in JDE is generally set to 1800 seconds, or 30 minutes, which is a fairly generous allowance for a user to pause while entering data.
