For Java do you use VAJAVA ?B'coz I am having nightmares (ver 3.5) importing Xerces.jar anyway I am going to use version 4 which I hope would avoid those problems Basically to understand XML parsers in general I learned from Microsoft parsers which looked easy for me.You could have a look at www.developeriq.com and links to XML tutorials. It's simple. That's the way they say having MAPADDRESS defined.Anyway did you try XML Extender which comes with DB2 7.1.I think it takes care of the parsing and I am going to try it and it's available for free download. Their example requires you to have a file (MAPADDRESS in their example) with the xml parentage defined and the column number in the target file (ADDRESSBK). Is that the right way to handle parsing XML? Not only are you maintaining a DTD, but you're maintaining a database file containing similar info. I'm interested to hear if anyone has done any xml parsing, and what your thoughts are. I will be starting a project soon where I may have a choice between parsing a delimited flat file or an xml file. Thanks for your input, Phil _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
