Thanks, Chuck. I'll look at their web site. In stress testing some of my Web applications, it seems that CPU speed is the first bottleneck on my system. My box will move data relatively quickly. I can copy large files from one library to the next. I can transfer large stream files from the IFS to my PC on the network. The performance is pretty good. But if I add CPU bound logic to parse or format the data, like in a Web application, the throughput drops dramatically. My box is a 170-2290. I assume that on a 270-2250, disk I/O would be the bottleneck, rather than the CPU. Our benchmark revealed that the CPU is 17 times faster. But the CPW rating is only 5 times greater. It seems that more detailed performance information would be helpful in gearing an iSeries purchase to its intended use.
