Nathan,

IBM says that "CPW is representative of commercial applications,
particularly those that do significant database processing in conjunction
with journaling and commitment control."  I believe the Commercial
Processing Workload rating is based on the TPC-C rating, created by the
Transaction Processing Performance Council.  You can get more info on them
at their website, http://www.tpc.org/.
