Hopefully someone has seen these issue before, as I can't quite figure them
out.

These are the issues we are currently facing with out IP connected laser
printers on the AS/400.

1. Printers were set up as devices but an apparent 'time-out' was causing
the writer to end on long print jobs (over a few hundred pages). The
activation timer was extended in the device setup, without success, and
changes were made to the timeouts on the network cards as recommended by
IBM. Will the application of the latest PTF's as listed for printing via
IP be likely to resolve this issue, or are there other changes that should
be made in the setup of the devices?

2. Printers have been changed to Outqueues, where the above problem does
not occur. To overcome the limitation of not being able to print page
ranges, the TSPRWPR Exit Program has been applied and Host Print Transform
set to *NO. A problem then occurs on the lasers with a 'Load Letter'
message being generated for each page. Changing the outqueue setup to Host
Print Transform = *YES and selecting *HP4 as Manufacturer Type and model
and our modified WSCSTA4 as Workstation Customisation Object overcomes this
problem and printers print A4 continuously without the 'Load Letter'
message.

The problem that arises by doing this is that we lose the ability to
print page ranges. As we are on v4r5, is there another way we can overcome
the page range issue, or is there an area in the TSPRWPR Exit Program that
we can change to point it to our modified WSCSTA4 Object?

3 On the printers set up as Outqueues, we have an A4 Portrait report
that overflows onto a second page in between page 1 and 2, regardless of
whether the TSPRWPR Exit Program or the *HP4 Manufacturer Type and Model
settings are used. On printers set up as devices, where *HP4 has been
selected, the job prints correctly. What do we have to change on the
Outqueue setup to resolve this problem?

Thanks,
