When SEQUEL first came out for the S/38, I installed an evaluation copy. Loved
it, got a ton of quick queries done. During the next couple weeks, management
was asking for reports non stop due to an audit that was going on.

In the meantime, a request to purchase SEQUEL was denied. Near the end of
evaluation, another report request came down and I returned the request with an
estimate of 2 weeks to completion. That came back with questions: "WHY? You've
been doing this daily for a couple weeks no problem!" After answering that
they'd turned down the purchase of SEQUEL and that SEQUAL was supplying the
quick turnaround, funds appeared as if by magic. (The evaluation period hadn't
quite ended, but I saw no reason to mention that.)

This is close to a pet wish of mine. All external interface source code should
be supplied. The internals of APIs, etc., can remain secret, but I sure wish
the UIM source for WRKSPLF or WRKCFGSTS was available. Being able to add or
remove options or simply to change layouts would be invaluable.

I understand the difficulties with supplying all the supporting objects such as
message files and what not. But I can still wish.
