Previous employers attitudes :

Company 1988 ; 1 - PCs? What are they ? - twinax only.
1989 ; 2 - PCs? Certainly not, use that 3196 and like it!
- twinax only.
1990 ; 3 - PCs? Not on the AS/400 network, over our dead
bodies (Internal Auditors) - token ring.
                  1997 ; 4 - PCs? Of course, no problem, isn't a dumb
terminal just used as a console? - Ethernet.
1999 ; 5 - PCs? Of course. How else do you get an AS/400
session? - Ethernet.
                  2001 ; 6 - PCs? Have what you like - Ethernet.

... but I have never been anywhere that attached their PCs via twinax.

Thanks for the responses, I'll see if I can locate a supplier here in the
UK.

Subject: Re: PC connection via twinax ?

I take it you haven't been in many 400 installations, so that will
answer the question about why somebody is using twinax. Twinax remains
a large part of MANY installations and as such, will require that you
learn how to deal with it. The connection over twinax is fairly simple
and can be handled by any number of emulation cards. IBM sells a
PCI Express card that runs tcp/ip over twinax or somebody like Bosa Nova
has vanilla cards with emulation. What has "paying for a proper job" got
to do with the installing a emulation card ??

Just being curious, but how do you "normally" attach a pc to a 400 ???
