William,

There is a manufacturing company in the Tulsa area that was purchased. The
parent company used a Win NT platform and wanted this company to convert.
They had a very stable and customized application running on the AS/400. We
were contacted about assisting in the conversion. My understanding is that
once the users got to see the "better" application and how it would affect
their work processes they complained loud enough to squash the conversion
project. (This is the one job I was glad to lose!)

What helped them stay with the AS/400 was 1) its stability, 2) the
application's stability, and 3) the applications customization to their
business processes. Depending on your customer's needs and how well their
current software solution meets them, this may or may not be applicable.

Good luck!
Chuck
