I frequently have customers call me to ask us what our
licensing policy is regarding LPAR. Since we charge (partially)
based on tier group, we do not charge extra by partition. However
I've had several customers comment that we were the first software vendor
they'd talked to who *wasn't* doing so. I don't know who the other
vendors were, but it makes sense to me that if the software if based 'per
system' without regard to tier, the vendor would be more likely to charge
extra for loading it on multiple partitions than if the software was tier
priced.
