Thanks for the link.  Your link shows that a partition will have a unique
'partition serial number' consisting of the box serial number and the
appended partition number.  For software licensing purposes, this presents
the possibility of licensing by partition.  Currently, I use an API to
retrieve the processor group one of the inputs (QSZRTVPR).  I get the system
serial number with RTVSYSVAL.  I suppose I could also use your API to check
which partition I'm running in.  So, I could license the software to the box
based on the processor group, and perhaps sell additional licenses for each
partition on which the software will be used??

Since the partitions will be changeable on-the-fly, it doesn't make sense
for a 'processor group' type value to be associated with a partition... but
this partition-specific serial number is very interesting.

I tried locating this API on my v4r5 box and didn't find it.  I assume this
means that it's new to v5r1?

Not sure if this will help or not but QYLPRLCI looks like it will return 
the current and primary partition. Looks like you need to pass in -1 as the 
partition ID  see
