It is possible that the hacker has spoofed their IP address to emulate the
Canadian that Eric found, but the Cyber Police can find out this for sure.
If your corporate security policy permits MIS to notify the authorities, then
before the ISP pulls the plug on whoever is responsible, the Canadian
Mounties can intercede to explain to this person the long term consequences
of their current way of life.

This is a wonderful effort of the FBI in concert with authorities in other
nations & police in all US states.
Suppose the French Police are investigating a scam involving an AOL user ...
AOL is based in Virginia.
Suppose the LA Police are investigating a Porn ring out of Germany.
This international effort helps grease the wheels of cyber-justice across
international boundaries.

There are options not visible to us victims.
Police in some location can register that they are investigating a particular
IP address or suspect & the data base will automatically notify that police
investigation if anyone else complains or asks about that target, so that
multiple investigations triggered by different victims can be coordinated.
