Oh, yeah, that was the other reason why I maintain my message file from within
a CL program.  Second-level text allows for up to 3000 characters, but the
command prompt allows only up to 512.  Not too often I have to go there, but
when I do, you can't prompt to change such a message.  Well, you can, but you
lose everything in the prompter after 512 characters.

Nope, you're not the only one. and why is it so difficult to edit a long
second-level text string ?
I find it's safer to copy the message first as a backup, & merge it back in
if I end up truncating the original. Maybe there's a connection there -
they want msgs kept short & simple ?
