  • Subject: RE: CPYTOIMPF, CPYTOSTMF - create fixed length records with comma for EOR?

Chris,

I have tried your suggestion previously.  I receive a  message CPF2845 ' The
copy did not complete for reason code 11.'  If I read the second level help text
properly it seems that if I reference a stream file as my target than *CR,
*CRLF, *LF, and *LFCR are my only options.  If I reference a UDB file than I can
choose a character value ( ',' in this case) or *EOR.

I have tried every combination I can think of without much success.  I have done
some testing with first attempting to copy this to the UDB and then to the STMF
but have not gotten the results I've expected.  I may end up programatically
adding the ',' to the UDB file and then creating the stream file.....

My biggest problem is that I need this to be automated on the AS/400.  I am
trying to avoid using any client software so that this can be controlled
centrally for many users.  I am going to place the data on our IFS for them to
use.

Try this and let us know if it works.

CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(XYZZ)
         TOSTMF('\HOME\WEIRD.STRMF'),
         RCDDLM(',')
         DTAFMT(*FIXED)
         STRDLM(*NONE)
         FLDDLM('')

Original Message:

Essentially, the customer is looking for a file to look something like this:
Record1,Record2,Record3, Record4, Record5, Record6
So, 1.) am I correct in believing that fixed length and comma delimited are
almost contrary terms? and 2.) any ideas on how to accomplish this?  Thanks.
